The Responsibility of the Filmmaker

Marc discussed “The Responsibility of the Filmmaker” at the Boston International Film Festival. The discussion was moderated by Stan Edelson and included Patrick Jerome (BIFF Founder), Brian Goodman, (‘What Doesn’t Kill You’), Karen Webb (‘Is He Real or Not’) and Cory Taylor (‘The Power of the Powerless’). This panel focused on what it means to be making movies today – solely to entertain or to inform – and what filmmakers do to maintain their independence and integrity along the way. Marc spoke about the personal inner conflicts he had while trying to be “responsible” when developing and casting ‘Mildred Richards’. He also offered insight to filmmakers on how they can survive and thrive when uncomfortable realities drive them onto a road they may not have originally seen themselves on.
